Frank Lloyd Wright rediscovered
As a lover of architecture with a particular affinity for Frank Lloyd Wright I have included a link below to an article from Houzz.com about the reopening of the Hollyhock House which is considered one of his masterpieces. The residence was recently meticulously renovated and is now open to the public for tours.
Much of what made Wright a visionary is included in this house from the use of cast concrete for decorative effect, fantastic custom glass and the furniture to bring it all together. The furnishings and the glass work are what many people don’t realize that Wright undertook beyond the design of the structure. He approached many of his projects to be all encompassing and the furnishings where often a huge part of it and in many instances a significant design element. Many of his furniture and cabinet designs are still being reproduced today decades after their initial use and the decorative glass was used in many instances to bring some of the designs included in the furniture or masonry into the overall design of the residence.
